Just dropping by to say hi to all my old shipmates! I haven't been on facebook for about 1 1/2 years, and you all are the only people I miss!
Feel free to shoot me an email to larry.weyer@me.com |

Served on her in 1972, Subic Bay to gun line and back monthly. Two biggest memories: 1) A period of 72 hour non stop replenishing (I think July or Aug.), destroyers, cruisers, carriers, anything with a gun. ; 2) Late one evening, sitting on the fantail with a couple guys and getting called to man duty stations for a trip farther north than any AE had been along the Nam coast, If you were on her then, you may know why.

Re: Bombs Away sea story. I was at the throttle when Lilly was swinging between ships. Held the propeller absolutely still until Lilly was recovered.

I'm working on application for my father to local vets hall of fame. He served on Pyro 9-12-43 to 2-23-46. Would he be entitled to combat action ribbon?
Thanks |
